Inscriptions mount verso-(printed) "The Bradford Oil Region." "Published by Frank
Robbins, Oil City, Pa." "1879." "This Northern Oil Region, Embracing
portions of McKean Co., Pa. and Catteraugus Co., N.Y. is about 150
miles from the Oil Creek Region. Development commenced July 14th,
1875, by striking the Jackson & Walker well near Bradford. 5000 Wells
are now in operation, producing 40,000 bbls. per day. Oil is obtained
from the third layer of sand-rock at a depth of 1500 to 1800 feet.
Large veins of gass are struck in nearly all wells causing them..."
