(printed label) "In and around Peking. A description of views taken
by Thos. Child. No. 172. In going towards the North the roads
are very mountainous and impracticable for carts. This conveyance is
very much used for such traveling, and is much easier than carts.
Suspended on the backs of two mules, the muleteer riding on a spare
animal all goes well so long as the animals do not fall; but as this
often happens, a journey in a mule litter is rather exciting."
