Printed on applied sheet on mount recto, BC: BANKOT. \ From the Custom House. \ The most picturesque province in the West of India is undoubtedly the Konkan. We give our subscribers a \ glimpse of one of its villages, Bánkot (the Fort of the Arrow) at the mouth of the Savitrí river, which rises on the heights \ of Mehábaleshwar, and flows to the west by Poládporr and Máhad. The native huts in our view are principally \ occupied by Muhammadan fishermen and boatmen. The scenery on both banks of the Savitrí through its whole \ extent is extremely beautiful. As it approaches the Gháts it is sublime.
