verso, mount (printed): War Record of "Old Baldy"
[text outlining and describing the many battles that Gen. Meade's horse survived, the wounds he received, with an emphasis on the Campaign in Northern Virginia. The horse lived to be over 30 years old. Two of General Meade's comrades, H.W.B. Hervey and Albert C. Johnson later arranged to have the horse's head preserved and mounted. This was presented to the George G. Meade Post, No. 1, Department of Pennsylvania G.A.R.] (Grand Army of the Republic)
