Inscriptions typed on applied label affixed to mount verso, TC: Lunar Orbiter V - 80mm Lens [underlined] \ Medium Resolution Photograph of Site V-48 (KI-5094) [underlined] \ This nearly vertical photograph of the crater Aristarchus [underlined] was taken \ by Orbiter V from an altitude of about 80 miles during a polar orbit. Aristar- \ chus is located at 23°N, 47°W, on the northern side of the Ocean of Storms. \ This is one photograph in a rapid series of eight overlapping photographs. High- \ resolution photographs taken simultaneously with the 24-inch lens capture the \ whole crater in magnificent detail. \ North is on the left in this photograph. The rim of the neighbor \ crater Herodotus is seen at the bottom of the photo. \ Aristarchus is about 25 miles in diameter and 6900 feet deep. The \ rim is about 2600 feet high compared to the neighboring surface. The white por- \ tion of the crater is the brightest spot on the moon with an albedo of nearly \ 18%. In making this print, dodging was required to bring out the ray structure \ of the crater walls. This region has shown luminescence. \ Space craft Frame #197.
