Inscriptions typed on applied label affixed to mount verso, TC: Lunar Orbiter V - 80mm Lens [underlined] \ Medium Resolution Photograph of Site V-30 (KI-5113) [underlined] This vertical photograph of the crater [underlined] Tycho [underlined] was taken by the final \ Orbiter from an altitude of about 120 miles during a polar orbit. \ Tycho is a relatively new crater in lunar history. Although its \ diameter of 54 miles and depth of 14,000 feet make it a prominent feature among \ the older craters in the vicinity, Tycho's dominance on the lunar landscape is \ most noticeable at or near full moon. Then the ray pattern emanating from it \ becomes most apparent. This system of light streaks extends over a quarter of \ the moon's hemisphere seen from the earth. One of the rays crosses the Sea of \ Serenity, about 2,000 miles north of Tycho. \ The central peaks reach a height of nearly 7,000 feet. \ In the surrounding area outside the eastern rim are pockets with \ a pool-or puddle-like appearance. Many similar smaller areas are found in the \ floor and walls of the crater. These features are more readly [sic] seen in companion \ high resolution photographs taken simultaneously. \ North is on the left in this photo. Tycho is located at 41º 45' S, \ 11º 30' W. \ Spacecraft Frame #125.
