Inscribed in black ink on mount, B: On the right in the Via Appia is the tomb of Cecilia Metella. It is a circular structure 65 \ ft. in diameter. The frieze which runs around the building is adorned with wreaths of \ flowers and skulls of oxen. The interior is almost entirely filled up contained the tomb-chamber of \ the deceased. Adjoining the tomb belong the picturesque ruins of a palace.
