Inscribed in black ink on mount, L: B. 246. Temple di Vesta or Round Temple small and picturesque \ consisting of 20 Corinthean [sic] Columns covered by a poor wooden roof. \ The ancient entablature, the roof and one of the columns next to the Tiber \ have disappeared. In this Temple of Vesta sacred fire was kept alight \ by the Vestal Virgins.
