Inscriptions Printed in image and traced over in black in, BL: COLONNA TRAIANA
Inscribed in black ink on mount, L and R: B. 236 Trajan's Column constructed entirely of marble. The shaft is 87 ft. high \ The whole including pedestal and statue 147 ft. diameter 11 ft below 10 ft. at \ top. Around the column runs a spiral band 3 ft wide + 660 ft long covered \ with admirable reliefs from Trajan's War comprising besides animals machines \ etc. upwards of 2500 human figures the hight [sic] of those below being 2 ft. and \ gradually increasing as they ascend. Beneath this monument Trajan was \ interred and on the summit stood his statue now replaced by that \ of St. Peter.
