on Iwo Jima's volcanic Mount Suribachi, Marines and Coast Guardsmen
bend their backs to the planting of the first stars and stripes to
wave over Okinawa. The flag caught the breezes on a height from which
the sea was visible on both sides. The much-applauded Iwo Jima flag
raising has inspired servicemen to a keen rivalry to have a hand..."
