Entry 499 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): (6.50) Beautiful large half-plate (5”x 6”) daguerr. of family group, mother, father, and beautiful daughter with most unusual hairdress. In perfect condition, on French-made silver plate, marked (40) in corner. Date March 1848, scratched on edge of lower half of cover. Daguerreotype made by Collins. “Collin’s Spy Light Portraits, 100 Chestnut St. Above 2d Philada.” Pressed on velvet lining to cover. This was in vicinity shown in my dag. of Phila 1842 taken by George Read, only this 6 yrs. later ($3.60)
