Inscriptions Typed in black ink on applied label on verso, BC: 9/61 27) SOON TO DECIDE, Richard Nixon confronts a big question. \ The issue: to run or not to run for Governor of California. The \ alternative: to assume the role of "younger statesman" and lead \ the Republican party from his position as private citizen. This \ picture, taken in his office in the Capitol during the 1960 Pres- \ idental campaign by Henri Cartier-Bresson, shows the then Vice- \ President in his role of decisive policy-maker. His decision will \ also affect another problem already rearing its head - that of the \ 1964 Presidential elections. \ Credit: Henri Cartier-Bresson © 1961 MAGNUM PHOTOS
