Inscriptions Printed in image, BL: 18. ARCO DI SETTIMIO SEVERO
Inscribed in black ink on mount, B and R: B. 222 \ Arch of Septimus Severus (and surrounding ruins) 75 ft. in height, 82 ft. in \ breadth, with 3 passages, erected in honor of the Emperer [sic] and his sons \ Caracalla and Geta in A.D. 203, and surmounted by a brazen chariot with \ six horses, on which stood Severus crowned by Victory. Caracalla afterwards erased \ the name of Geta whom he murdered.
