"Callaway Heroes Await Burial At Sea" "Coast Guardsmen, who gave their
lives in the operation to establish a beachhead on Luzon, are shrouded
in canvass (sic), awaiting burial at sea. They were killed when the
USS Callaway, a Coast Guard-manned invasion transport, was hit
squarely in the superstructure during a Japanese bomber attack off
