Inscriptions (paper label) "In and Around Peking. A description of views taken by
Thom. Child. No. 98. Temple of Heaven. Peking. This view is taken
from the second terrace of No. 97 looking towards the north. The
building with the pointed roof is where the tablet is kept and in the
distance the covered altar is seen, a prominent object. The grotesque
heads projecting from the sides of the terrace, serve as drains to
carry off the surface water."
