Inscriptions mount-verso (handwritten in ink) "Gettysburg. "Trossel's Barnyard"
occupied by the 9th Mass battery of light artillery who lost 65 out of
88 horses. This battery held in check the fearful charge of the
confederates until the Union lines could reform and repel the attack."
