DescriptionAlbum containing commercial views of Europe, including Berlin and areas of Italy. The album contains many reproductions of statuary and art reproductions of paintings. First image is of famed Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen (Danish, 1770–1844), followed by a series of allegorical bas-reliefs and intermittent views of other Greek and Roman sculpture including the Venus de Milo and Hiram Powers' Greek Slave. There are also views an unidentified German city, views of an Italian monastery, and a series of Italian "types" including an unusual image of a fallen traveler being rescued (or attacked) by hooded men, by Brogi. Included is an 1880 pencil sketch of bulls and 1/2 stereo images of the interior of a pavilion of the 1875 Philadelphia Bicentennial exposition. All pages are separated from spine, but otherwise in fair condition.
