Gift of Dr. William C. Emerson
1982.2532.0001-0048
DescriptionAlbum that once contained 48 photographs that have since been removed from the acidic and adhesive stained pages and stored separately. A bookplate on the inside cover of the album indicates that it was owned by Just William Emerson (1863–1893), the younger brother of the photographer, Peter Henry Emerson and the father of the donor, William Canfield Emerson. The album pages have pencil inscriptions that aid in sequencing them (1-A, 1-B, 2-A etc.). In a few instances, an accession number indentifies the platinum print that has been removed. There are also several pencil inscriptions that serve as the basis for titles assigned to corresponding photographs. Several of the pages are cut through creating 2 or 3 horizontal parts.
