Inscriptions Printed in black on orange label on carton: Victor FLASHPOWDER Normal Grade 2 OZS. NET WEIGHT $1.55 (OUTSIDE THE U.S. $1.90) MADE IN THE U.S.A. FOR JAS. H. SMITH & SONS CO. 1229 SO. WABASH AVENUE CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, U.S.A. FOR GROUPS, PORTRAITS, BANQUETS AND GENERAL WORK This NORMAL GRADE is the most suitable for general work, and is by far the most popular of all flash powders. It is very high in illuminating quality and burns rapidly enough in any quantities to stop ordinary movement of subjects. Makes but ittle smoke or report. CAUTION: Do not use a lamp which confines or encloses this powder in any way. It is, like any instantaneous powder of value, explosive, and must be handled with care. Do not use more that 1/4 oz. in any flash lamp held in the hand. DIRECTIONS Two to eight grains of the powder (depending on speed of lens and plate) will produce fully exposed portrait negatives. One-eighth ounce will give full exposure to objects 35 feet from flash when quick plate and F16 stop are used, and one-quarter once gives full exposure to objects 50 feet distant. A teaspoonslightly less that level full will illuminate fully a room 12 feet square, using quick plate and ordinary RR lens at F8 or F12, teaspoon slightly rounding full for 18 foot room, and heaping teaspoonful for a 30 foot room, under like conditions of plate and lens. You can use any FLash Lamp intended for explosive powders, but we recommend VICTOR Portable Bags which do away entirely with the smoke annoyance, or Victor Open Electric Flash Lamps. / Embossed in grey on bottom of carton: Victor
