Printed Label attached verso: For one fortnight only, the Monmouthshire Photographic Gallery will open at the old canal near Newport Bridge on Monday, October 22, 1855 from ten o'clock till three. Portraits 5s. 6d independent of weather by Mr. Beauford's "Accelerator" Registered Useful. The portraits are taken by a new process, which enables them to be produced equally as well in the dullest weather, as exhibited by him in the Crystal Palace. Read opinions of the London Press: - Illustrated London News, Oct. 11th, 1851; Morning Herald, Aug. 20 ; Standard, Sep. 30; Observer, Aug. 10, 1851; also at the Dublin Exhibition; New York ditto and the Paris Universal Exhibition. / As a memento of remembrance or token of affection, nothing supersedes a portrait. It is a magic dispenser of pleasure, a consoler in hours of anguish and absence, a breathing representation whose silent eloquence whispers spiritual thoughts of love and hope. The strongest inducement is now held out by the cheapness and rapidity with which they are produced.

Photography. - Mr. Beauford is certainly one of the most skilful photographers of the day; and we recommend all who desire to posses a faithful portrait to pay him an early visit. By means of his registered invention, the "Daguerreotype Accelerator" he is enabled to take likenesses on the dullest day, which surpass in clearness and exquisite delineations, anything we have ever seen. Indeed, we have seen a likeness taken in a few seconds on a gloomy day, by Mr. B. A splendid [paper torn away] silver plate by Mr. Beauford, and of contrasting them with recently-taken Collodion portraits. The difference in an artistic point of view was found to be astonishingly in favor of the former and this superiority was the more strongly felt when it was observed that even in pictures only a few weeks old the tendency of Collodion to separate from the glass plate had shown itself to the great detraction of the picture.
