SCATTER, YOU SONS OF NIPPON! - As a Yank plane comes in low to strafe defenders/
of Iwo Jima during the pre-invasion, "softening up" period, these Jap soldiers/
carrying field packs scatter for cover. Those at right seem headed for a nearby/
ravine, while those at leaft have dived into a gully. Those close to the truck/
in which they were riding seem to have made a quick decision to dive back toward/
the truck for safety. On February 19, 1945, the U. S. Marines started giving the/
Japs on Iwo their personal, on-the-ground attention./
