Magnum Cinema / This distribution is part of a series celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of the cinema, first seen by the public on December 28, 1895 when the Lumiere brothers projected moving images in the Grand Cafe on the Boulevard des Capucines in Paris. While no Magnum photographer was present at the first screening, they have been on hand for many held since. They have been in the set, behind the scenes and with the stars, directors and technicians who brought the movies to millions. In April, Phaidon publishers will release the book Magnum Cinema, which collects the best of Magnum's photographic takes on the moving pictures. / 11.
