Cholula, at the time of the Conquest, was the Indian holy city. \ After the Conquistadores had massacred the natives, they proceeded \ to destroy the native temples, re placing [sic] them with churches. At one time there were 365 churches, one for each day in the year; \ now only 49 are open. Only the largest pyramid on the high hill \ withstood the fanatical Spaniards who compromised by building their \ church over it. The young couple, Mr. and Mrs. Saul Hurwitz of \ Harrisburg, Pa. spent their first day in Mexico seeing the many \ churches of the region. "We've seen enough churches to last us a / lifetime. Contrary to most tourists [sic] expectations, the sky is \ occasionally grey in Mexico. Mr. Hurwitz, wears his new sombrero \ even though he doesn't need it.
