Evgenia Kuzminya, Magadan

Motherland

Evgenia Kuzminya is a student who works part time as a waitress at Café Pilot. She grew up on the Kamchatka peninsula but recently moved to Magadan to study dentistry at the university. The city's remote location means its cost of living is the highest in Russia, and increasing economic difficulties and declining federal subsidies have led to a steady decline in the city's population.
