Ploschad Revolutsi, Bilibino, Chukotka

Flags fly over Ploschad Revolutsi in preparation for the town's 50th anniversary celebrations. Bilibino's population is falling fast due to massive unemployment, dropping to just over 5000 in 2005 - a quarter of the town's Soviet-era population -

with the entire population of Chukotka, an area of 736,000 square kilometres, only 58,000.
