Pavel Lipatov was born in the Altai region of southern Russia but has lived in Kamchatka for 30 years working as an engineer for the state oil company. He now runs treks for Russian and foreign tourists through one of the most active volcanic


regions along the Pacific 'Ring of Fire'. There are over 200 volcanoes on the peninsula, 29 of which are active.
