Ilya Helfenbein, Novosoft offices, Akademgorodok

In 1958 Akademgorodok was an experimental city of Soviet scientists whose mission was to surpass the achievements of Western science. The town suffered after Perestroika and many of its brightest scientists left for the West. Today,

a handful of high-tech research companies and institutes draw on the abilities of talented young scientists. Ilya Helfenbein is the Marketing Director of the Russian internet company Novosoft. He has a picture above his desk of the jailed

oligarch, Mikhail Khodorkovsky - a hero to many young Russian capitalists.
