Questar Standard 3½ model telescope

Gift of Philip L. Condax, 2013
DescriptionMaksutov type catadioptric telescope with case (version with Moon Map and perpetual Star Chart on barrel)
TextThe Questar Standard 33.5-inch telescope was introduced in 1954; it was of the Maksutov-Cassegrain catadioptic reflector type, allowing a seven-footfocal length telescope to be compressed into an eight-inch-long tube. Questar engraved a large moon map into the barrel of the telescope and a perpetual star chart into the dew hood, making stargazing easy for the amateur astronomer. The Nikon F, fitted with a special pre-release mirror button designed to remove vibration from the camera's reflex mirror, was the ideal camera for astrophotography with the Questar.
