Inscriptions verso (typed in purple): FOR RELEASE AFTER JUNE 3, 1950 / WORLD WAR II LANDMARKS REVISITED. [underlined] / Six years have passed since American forces hit the beaches / at Normandy. The successive campaigns through France, Belgium, / Holland and Germany will long be remembered by the millions / of veterans who served in Europe during World War II. Many / changes have taken place abroad, since the cessation of / hostilities; and Army cameramen have revisited some of these / landmarks to show them as they appear today. The photographers / have duplicated a series of ten famous combat shots made in / St. Lo, France; Bastogne, Belgium and Frankfurt and Cologne, / Germany. / SC 226804 AS IT LOOKED DUURING WORLD WAR II. [underlined] Bastogne, / Belgium is designated as a memorial to the heroes who fought / out the German counter-offensive during the Battle of the Bulge. / It was our strong defense [?] of Bastogne that levelled off the powerful / enemy thrust. Major General Maxwell D. Taylor, Commanding / General of the 101st Airborne Division is greeted on his arrival / during the battle. This reunion of the General and his men took / place in front of a Belgian hardware store; and the storekeeper / and his wife witness the event.
