Inscriptions Entry 547 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): Handsome half-plate dag. of Daniel Webster on his estate estate at Marshfield, Mass. Taken about 184[?] perhaps by Brady. Since [?], Civil War writer who [?] Brady photos in his book, drew portrait from this dag for engraving in a book, “Private Life of Daniel Webster.[?] harper’s 1852. Plate 3. Fine outdoor scene under trees of Marshfield, buildings in distance. Rec’d from Kennebunk, Me. Paid $12.50. Worth about twice that. More than $50.00
