TextTo make the works in the two series represented here, Augusta Wood projected 35mm slides from her family’s archive so that images depicting the same rooms overlapped, and then photographed the superimposed array. In each instance, the result collapses the time between the projected pictures, which date from before she was born, through her childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, locating a common denominator for memory in architectural space. More than that, the works emulate the way our mind tends to jumble chronology as it conflates the real and fictional associations we attach to familiar places.
