Inscriptions Written with ink on recto, TC: Eddie Arcaro a very young rider up
Written with ink on recto, BC: in those days.
Typed in ink on slip of paper placed behind photograph: As indicated by the dust, probably the finish of this race at Havre de Grace, Md. They are past the starting point and near the finish line. Taken by A. Thomas Nelson about 1930 to 1932. The print indicates Eddie Arcaro up, but not so on the back. Taken with a 1A speed Camera with focal plane shutter taking a picture up to 1000th of a second. The horses hoofs are sharp as seen with a magnifying glass. Eddie Arcaro and Willie Shoemaker, young riders then, rode in these races but only one print is marked on teh front and the marking on the back is different. See print of teh approach to teh double deck bridge where the Susquehanna joins the Delaware River, for further information.
