Inscriptions Written in ink on recto, BC: 1-3
Typed in ink on slip of paper placed behind photograph: The finish of a race I believe, near the starting point and near the finish line on the track at Havre de Grace, Md. Taken by A. Thomas Nelson about 1930 to 1932 with a 1A Speed camera with focal plane shutter taking a picture up to 1000th of a second and equipped with a 4.5 (I think Tessar) lens. The horses hoofs are sharp as seen with a magnifying glass. Eddie Arcaro and Willie Shoemaker, young riders then, rode in these races but only one print is marked. See print of double deck bridge where the Susquehanna joins the Delaware River, for further information.
