On December 3rd 1999 a fire in Worcester started with a candle in an \ abandoned warehouse. It ended with temperatures above 3000 degrees the men of the Worcester fire \ department in a fight for their lives. From left: Kevin Reando, Rich Roy, Gary Williams, Dave \ Halvorsen, Steve "yeah" Connole, and Robert a Johnson in the station house in March; the tatoos on \ their shoulders are inscribed with the date of teh fire, as well as slogans such as "last alarm", \ "WFD", and "Box 1438". \ -Bruce Davidson/ Magnum Photos, Inc.
