Printed on applied newspaper clipping on verso, BC: Col. Bailey, 76, \ 1940 [inscribed in ink] \ Dies in Barbadoes \ AMESBURY, March 8 - Col. Ed- \ win W. Bailey, 76, Spanish war vet- \ eran and builder of one of the first \ electric automobiles, died suddenly \ today in the Barbadoes, West Indies, \ according to word received at his \ Hillside avenue residence here. \ A native of Maine and a former \ resident of Charlestown, Col. Bailey \ was associated with Thomas A. Edi- \ son in building an electric automo- \ bile known as the Bailey Electric. \ He later went into the automobile \ body building business under the \ firm name of Bailey & Company. \ He leaves three sons, Samuel R. \ David [illegible] and Edwin W. Bailey.
