[An aerial photo of Fort Driont [sic], A German held fort opposite the town of Ars-Sur-Moselle, France, which is the main obstacle in the way of the 3rd Army's capture of Metz, France. This German Fort, which has been holding up the units of the 3rd Army for some time in this sector, is about 1/2 mile in length and is protected by pillboxes, moats and fortification with the capture of this Fort and the town on the opposite bank of the river the enemy at Metz can be attacked from another angle. The smoke at the left center is caused by the landing of a U.S. Artillery shell. Air Sec. 5th Inf. Div]
