Inscriptions inscribed in black ink on recto, OA: Identification Passes & Badges - \ During WWII any plant engaged in defense work \ had [crossed out] was required to have ID badges & passed [sic]. \ There was a struggle by industry to comply with \ this directive. They had not done it before. \ I had an active part in the struggle as I was \ working at EKS (?) Pittsburgh at the time (1941) and \ set up many plants to do photography. The Graflex \ ID camera was sold out of stock early in the \ game & we had to improvise. \ This is a record & examples of how it all \ started. The ID business became big business \ overnight. You can see the chain of events that led \ up to making a foolproof pass.; signed in black ink on recto, BC: O.L. Potter.; inscribed in pencil on recto, BC: [Orville L. Potter]
