Inscriptions Inscribed on recto in black ink TR: New York, when I ws growing up, \ was the center of my universe. \ It is hard to break that \ association, even now that I \ have moved further and further \ away from it. Closer and closer \ to the land. \ I remember the bakeries, Yankee \ Stadium and The Polo Grounds, the \ Butcher shops with sawdust on the \ floor. \ The butcher wore a straw hat and \ had a great, blood smeared apron. \ He put his long, sharp Knife on the \ side of beef and you told him how \ wide to cut it. \ Nothing anywhere seemed more real.
