Inscriptions Typed in black ink on paper taped to verso and folded to recto BC: "LASING" AROUND -- Technician Thuan Nguyen runs a test on a ring laser gyro (RLG) at \ Honeywell's Aerospace and Defense Ridgeway facility in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The \ trangular glass block is tested by filling the device with gas and applying an electrical \ charge to it, causing a glowing effect called "lasing." The RLG performs the navigation \ functions on commercial and military aircraft. Unlike conventional gyros, the RLG \ operates by measuring laser beams bouncing off mirrors at two corners. This requires no \ moving parts, so it cannot wear out like conventional gyros. RLG has changed navigation \ with its unprecidented accuracy and reliability. Honeywell is the world's largest \ producer of ring laser gyros. \ -0- \ From: Barbara Woike \ Carl Byoir & Associates, Inc. \ 380 Madison Avenue (212) 986-6100 \ New York, New York 10017 \ For: HONEYWELL \ Slug: "LASING" AROUND \ Neg.
