Typed in black on paper applied to verso, C: Arthur Koestler found dead in London flat. Distrib. 83.42 \ Arthur Koestler the Hungarian born writer who drew on his experiences \ as a Communist in the 1930's for his influential anti totalitarian \ novel "Darkness at Noon" and his wife were found dead in their \ London Flat. Their deaths apparently were the result of suicide pact. \ He had been suffering from leukemia and Parkinson’s disease. An \ overdose of drugs was suspected to be the cause of both deaths. The \ Koestlers were members of the Voluntary Euthanasia Societ [sic] EXIT. These \ photos were taken in the 1960's when he was working in New York. \ Photos by Erich Hartmann/MAGNUM.
