An apprecticeship with \ Arnold Newman lauched his career as a freelance photojournalist. Through his \ friendship with Robert F. Kennedy, Lowe was appointed as campaign \ photographer for John F. Kennedy's successful 1960 presidential bid. On \ September 11, 2001, over 40,000 negative from the Jacques Lowe archive \ were tragically destroyed in the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.
