Inscriptions Entry 721 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): Rare New England 5x6 daguerreotype of a school house, more than seventy pupils of all grade being assembled on steps. Considering the difficulty in photographing children & groups, especially outdoors, due to the long exposure, this is a remarkable group, almost perfect. Very rare to find a daguerreotype of a large group. Probably an early Massachusetts grade school. From Mrs. Grace L. Stammers. Bolton, Mass. Cost 3.00, but worth around 10.00.
