Entry 586 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): 3x4 Mascher’s Stereoscope Dag.$.75 from Stroudsburg, Pa. Pictures oxidized, but fairly good. Subject moved his hands & arms slightly between photos, so stereo[illegible] effect is not perfect. Nice little case. Inscription inside of case “Myron Shew, Stock Dealer. No. 118 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Constantly on hand a full supply of stereoscopic Dag. type cases. Shew left Boston for Phil. When Wm. Shew left for S.F. Gold Rush 1850.
