Inscriptions Inscribed in pen on applied label on spine of case: 283
Entry 283 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): Excellent daguerreotype of female negro slave. Very nicely dressed in fancy dress, beautifully tinted. Holding book, wearing old gold pencil on long cord, brooch & bracelet. Very fine. Must have been very well liked by master & mistress. Taken 1845-55. From early pre-Civil War days. Ancestor of S.F. negro family. (.75)
