Entry 429 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): Small ambrotype scene of little town of Tonica, La Sellko, Illinois [?], about 1860. Shows “Circuit Rider” Presbyterian Minister, Named E. Scudder High (Daddy High) in high silk hat, driving white horse and carriage. Shows another man, horse and carriage in front of home of Wm. Jackson Vaughn, with whom he boarded out when stopping in Lonica on his missionary circuit. New gutta percha case gift of Emil and Mollie Britt. Bought ambrotype scene of two sisters, Mrs. Yoho and Miss Gayetti, 364-30th Av, S.F. granddaughters of Wm. Jackson Vaughn. ($1.00)
