DescriptionAlbum of pencil sketches, camera lucida drawings, and watercolors by Charles Marie Bouton. The images primarily consist of architectural views or of landscapes with ruins, several of them related to the Picardie region of France. There are three sketches of the interior of the Église de Saint-Martin le Gaillard in Picardie and another of a cellar in a structure in the Ville d'Eu. Several pages of the album are dedicated to sketches of the domes and spires of cathedrals and churches in Florence, Italy. Of particular interest is a pencil sketch of the interior of Daguerre's Laboratory; an ink drawing possibly of the inner workings of Paris Diorama; and a sketch possibly related to a later diorama painting Détail de Campo Vaccino for the London Diorama. The last image in the album is a completed watercolor, mounted on dark blue board. There is a published lithograph that corresponds to this entitled "Le Souterrain."
Bound in dark green decorated cloth stamped in blind with handwritten label applied to front board.
