Entry 431 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): Ambrotype of early male inhabitant of Jacksonville, first capital of Oregon. Taken by Peter Britt, first photographer of Oregon who came across plains to Oregon & set up tiny daguerreotype gallery in 1852. Gift of his son & daughter. Mollie & Emil Britt from Britt Museum. Case of gutta percha “The Rendezvous” shows young woman on horse back and reclining dog, patiently waiting for her lover who approaches on horseback in distance. Case mended but lovely. (Case $1.50)
