DescriptionPhotograph album with (37) cartes de viste and (2) tintypes. Pencil inscriptions identify all of the portraits. All seem to be members of an extended family, identified with surnames: Bowman, Zuckerman, Howland, Stanton and others. There is a portrait of Emily Howland (page 25), ca. 1865, an advocate of African American causes, as well as a newsprint clipping about her, published after her death, in the back of the album. There are also several portraits of Quaker women. Included is a carte-de-visite reproduction of an engraving of a portrait of Abraham Lincoln (page 37) and reproductions of portraits of Martha Washington (page 39) and of George Washington (page 40). Album is in very good condition, covered in brown morocco leather, clasps are intact and functional.
