Inscriptions Typed in black ink on applied label, verso BC: (Montevideo) 7/61 3) DELUGE OF POSTERS AND BILLBOARDS BLANKETS \ MONTEVIDEO, displaying the slogans of Communism and Fidelismo [underlined]. \ The Soviet Bloc, including China, spends over $100 million a \ year in proselytizing Latins, and Castro's Cuba is engaged in \ a vast, intense propaganda effort wildly out of proportion to \ its size and national income. Yet the U.S. allots less than \ $15 million a year to its entire continental public information \ program. Communist propaganda resources seem inexhaustible. \ To agitate the grassroots for their current anti-U.S. campaign, \ specially-mounted cine trucks roll through Montevideo after \ nightfall, exhibiting anti-U.S. movie shorts at busy street- \ corners, including animated cartoons such as the Cuban-made \ "the Shark and the Sardines." \ Credit: Andrew St. George © 1961 MAGNUM PHOTOS
