Entry 140 in Mackay's notebook (located in library): Beautiful daguerreotype photo of a painting of portrait. Frame of painting is concealed by the mat of this daguerreotype. Curled hair, tie, & collar of an earlier age. Cloudy effect in background shows that it was painting also. Probably the daguerreotype was taken from painting of some person of fame, such as a musician or poet, who lived earlier than period of daguerreotypes. Very delicately tinted in face, and very beautiful. Belonged to same collection of Parisian family as nos. 138 & 139.
